How To Use Our Bars

Making the switch to solid shampoo and conditioner is daunting for some people - whether it’s because they’re used to using liquids, worried about a transition period consisting of greasy hair, or the thought of having to do apple cider vinegar rinses. If this is the case for you, our bars might just be the solution you’ve been looking for! They’re super easy to use, and require no transition period or apple cider vinegar rinses.

This blog post will dive into how to use our shampoo and conditioner bars, along with some tips on how to get the most of your bars!

Shampoo bars

Wet the bar and your hair. You can either rub the bar directly on your scalp or create a lather in your hands - up to you. Work the lather into your hair and rinse. If you only wash your hair once or twice a week, you may not get a good lather, but don’t worry, there’s a solution for that! You might benefit from the double shampoo method, which you can read more about here. Basically, you shampoo your hair twice to get all the excess dirt and oil off your scalp!

Conditioner bars

After you’ve shampooed your hair, follow up with a conditioner to add moisture back into your ends. Wet the conditioner bar and swipe it on your ends, or rub it between your hands to gather product. Make sure to only put conditioner on your ends - your hair will probably get greasy if you put it too close to your scalp! Work the conditioner into your ends and let it set for a couple minutes, then rinse well. It’s important to note that your conditioner bar will not lather like shampoo bars, since it's nourishing and moisturizing your hair instead of cleansing it.

That’s all that’s to it, super simple! To get the most out of your bars and to make sure they don’t go soft and mushy, be sure to keep them dry. You can prop them up on their sides so that the majority of the bar is kept dry, or buy a soap dish that will let the entire bar dry out! This Instagram post has some great tips on how to store your bars, but we will be doing a blog post very soon about some other storage techniques.

Making the switch to our bars will not only benefit your hair, but it’s also more cost efficient! One of our shampoo bars replaces up to three bottles of traditional liquid shampoo. Same with our conditioner bars - many customers have said theirs last them for up to 8 months! And of course, they are plastic free and good for the environment. So what is there to lose? Try out our bars and let us know on Instagram or Facebook how easy the switch was!
